Mark is the commanding officer of USS Accord. He joined STARFLEET in 1987, and climbed the ranks aboard USS Avenger, a STARFLEET chapter based in New Jersey. He served as Assistant Chief Communications Officer and then Chief Communications Officer on Avenger, and on Avenger's Ithaca-area Delta Shift group, before transferring his active membership to Shuttle Accord when the Ithaca group decided to become a chapter of its own.

Mark was one of the founding members of the Ithaca group (whose earlier incarnations included Shuttle Odyssey, Delta Shift, and Shuttle Dulcinea) and, upon the group's launching as a STARFLEET shuttle (chapter-in-training), became the chapter's first official commanding officer. (Mike Shappe and Scott French were the group's leaders in its pre-shuttle days.)

In addition to the other "hats" he wears, Mark serves on STARFLEET's international Executive Committee as Chief of Computer Operations. Mark currently holds the rank of Rear Admiral, and the reserve rank of Major General in the STARFLEET Marine Corps.
